Men's hockey forward Ben Allison and women's basketball wing Angong Jacob have been named Huskies Athletes of the Week, sponsored by Freeman's Little New York Halifax, for the week ending January 11, 2026.

Ben Allison, a third year forward from Halifax, NS, is the Huskies male athlete of the week, sponsored by Freeman's Little New York Halifax, for the week of Jan. 3-11, 2026.
Over three Huskies wins, Allison recorded seven points (two goals, five assists), added a shootout winning goal and recorded 17 shots on goal and a +5 plus/minus rating.
In the Huskies 7-5 win over the Dalhousie Tigers on Saturday, Jan. 3, Allison scored a goal, added two assists, and recorded six shots on goal and a +3 plus/minus rating.
In the Huskies 3-2 shootout win over the STFX X-Men on Wednesday, Jan. 7, Allison scored the shootout winning goal, added an assist and eight shots on goal.
In the Huskies 9-5 win over the Dalhousie Tigers on Saturday, Jan. 10, Allison scored a goal, added two assists, and recorded three shots on goal and a +3 plus/minus rating.
Through 20 games played this season, Allison has recorded 37 points (17 goals, 20 assists), tied with teammate Reid Valade for the U SPORTS lead. Allison also leads the AUS and ranks second in U SPORTS with 88 shots on goal, and his +11 plus/minus rating leads the Huskies.
The Huskies have clinched a playoff spot and are third in the AUS standings with a 12-6-0-2 record through 20 games played. They'll be back on home ice this weekend, hosting the UPEI Panthers on Friday and the UNB REDS on Saturday, with both games scheduled to drop the puck at 7 p.m. at the Dauphinee Centre. GET TICKETS

Angong Jacob, a fourth year wing from Calgary AB, is the Huskies female athlete of the week, sponsored by Freeman's Little New York Halifax, for the week of Jan. 5-11, 2026.
In Friday's 81-52 loss to the Acadia Axewomen, Jacob led the Huskies with a season-high 24 points, adding three rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot.
On the season, Jacob ranks second on the Huskies in scoring, averaging 12.9 points per game, adding 2.4 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.5 blocks per game. Jacob's 24 three-pointers made on the season lead the team and rank fourth in the AUS
Through 11 games played, the Huskies record stands at 4-7, good for fifth place in the AUS standings. Saint Mary's will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 17, as they visit the STFX X-Women at 6 p.m. in Antigonish, N.S.
