Downey and Faseruk named Huskies Athletes of the Week: Nov. 10-16, 2025
Men's basketball guard Jasha'jaun Downey and women's hockey forward Mia Faseruk have been named Huskies Athletes of the Week, sponsored by Freeman's Little New York Halifax, for the week ending November 23, 2025.

Jasha'jaun Downey, a third year guard from North Preston, NS, is the Huskies male athlete of the week, sponsored by Freeman's Little New York Halifax, for the week of Nov. 17-23, 2025.
Over two games, Downey averaged 23.5 points on 59/47/89 shooting percentages, adding 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals and one assist per game.
In Friday's 100-86 win over the STFX X-Men, Downey put up a career high and AUS season best 41 points on 14/20 shooting from the field, 6/10 from three and 7/7 from the free-throw line, adding five rebounds, two assists and two steals.
In Saturday's loss to Acadia, Downey scored six points, adding four rebounds and three steals.
On the season, Downey ranks third in the AUS in scoring with 18.8 points per game, and leads the league with 26 three-pointers made.
The Huskies record stands at 2-7 through nine games, and they'll be back in action on Wednesday, Nov. 26, as they visit the Dalhousie Tigers for their last game before December break.

Mia Faseruk / Women's Hockey / Winnipeg, MB / 2nd year / Arts - Psychology
Mia Faseruk, a second year forward from Winnipeg, MB, is the Huskies female athlete of the week, sponsored by Freeman's Little New York Halifax, for the week of Nov. 17-23, 2025.
Over two games this weekend, Faseruk scored two goals and added an assist, recording a +3 plus/minus rating and six shots on goal.
In Friday's 7-0 win over the Mount Allison Mounties, Faseruk scored a goal, added an assist, and recorded a +2 plus/minus rating and four shots on goal.
In Saturday's 3-2 shootout loss to STFX, Faseruk scored the overtime forcing goal with under a minute remaining, earning the Huskies a single point, and added two shots on goal and +1 plus/minus rating.
After missing several games to injury, Faseruk has now scored four points (three goals, one assist) in 11 games this season.
The Huskies record stands at 7-6-0-2 through 15 games played. They'll be back on home ice on Friday, Nov. 28, hosting the STFX X-Women.
