Allison & Nelson named Huskies Athletes of the Week: Oct. 13-19, 2025

Men's hockey forward Ben Allison and women's hockey forward Keyara Nelson have been named Huskies Athletes of the Week, sponsored by Freeman's Little New York Halifax, for the week ending October 19, 2025.

Ben Allison, a third year forward from Halifax, NS, is the Huskies male athlete of the week, sponsored by Freeman's Little New York Halifax, for the week of Oct. 13-19, 2025.

Over a pair of Huskies wins, Allison recorded seven points (five goals, two assists). 

In Wednesday's 5-3 win over STFX, Allison contributed to all five Huskies goals, scoring four, adding an assist and recording a +3 plus/minus rating and six shots on goal.

In Saturday's 3-2 win over Dalhousie, Allison scored a goal and added an assist, recording a +1 plus/minus rating and four shots on goal.

Through six games played, Allison is tied with linemate Reid Valade as U SPORTS leading scorer with 13 points (seven goals, six assists). He also leads the AUS with a +9 plus/minus rating, and 24 shots on goal.

The Huskies improve to a league-leading 6-0-0 to begin the campaign, and will continue their road swing into next weekend, visiting the UNB REDS (3-2-1) on Friday in Fredericton, and UPEI Panthers (2-4-0) on Saturday in Charlottetown, with both games dropping the puck at 7 p.m.

Keyara Nelson / Women's Hockey / Belleville, ON / 5th year / Science - Geography

Keyara Nelson, a fifth year forward from Belleville, ON is the Huskies female athlete of the week, sponsored by Freeman's Little New York Halifax, for the week of Oct. 13-19, 2025.

Over a pair of Huskies wins, Nelson recorded three points (two goals, one assist).

In Friday's 6-5 overtime win over Dalhousie, Nelson scored a goal and added an assist, recording a +2 plus/minus rating and three shots on goal.

In Saturday's 2-0 win over Dalhousie, Nelson scored the game-winning goal, recording a +1 plus/minus rating and one shot on goal.

Through five games played, Nelson is tied for the Huskies team lead with five points (two goals, three assists), while her +5 plus/minus rates third on the team.

The Huskies improve to 3-2-0-0 on the campaign and will be back on home ice next weekend hosting the UNB REDS (3-2-0-0) on Saturday and St. Thomas Tommies (3-3-0-0) on Sunday, with both games dropping the puck at 3 p.m. at the Dauphinee Centre. GET TICKETS
