Saint Mary's defender Anna Barrington scored a pair of goals, helping lead the Huskies to a 7-2 win over the UPEI Panthers on Thursday night at the Dauphinee Centre in Halifax, N.S.
The Huskies opened the scoring just five minutes into the action, as Ava Shearer (Windsor, NS) fired a shot that was denied by Panthers goaltender Sarah Forsythe (Riverview, NB) but Mia Faseruk (Winnipeg, MB) was able to stuff in the rebound to put the hosts ahead 1-0, 5:25 into the first period.

But the Panthers leading scorer got one back midway through the period, as Brooke Henderson (Halifax, NS) came out of the penalty box and was sent on a breakaway, beating Saint Mary's netminder Sophie Scully (Ottawa, ON) with a low shot to tie the game at 1-1, 10:52 into the first period.
The Panthers outshot the Huskies 13-10 through the opening 20 minutes, and the two teams went into first intermission deadlocked at 1-1.
UPEI came into the second period with energy, peppering Scully with shots but the Huskies goaltender was able to keep them away.
The Huskies took advantage of a counter attack six minutes in, as after Scully made a save, forward Kara MacLean (Antigonish, NS) carried the puck into the Panthers zone, playing a pass in front to Keyara Nelson (Belleville, ON) who dropped a puck off for defender Abigail MacKenzie (Stellarton, NS) who made no mistake with a backhand shot, giving the Huskies a 2-1 lead.
