ST. JOHN'S, NL – Saint Mary's guard Jasha'jaun Downey scored a game-high 28 points, but the Memorial Sea-Hawks defeated the Huskies 68-63 in Atlantic University Sport men's basketball action on Saturday night at the Memorial Fieldhouse in St. John's, NL.

For the second straight game, the Huskies got off to a strong start offensively, with guard Jasha'jaun Downey (North Preston, NS) hitting a lay-up and three for the first five points of the game.

The Sea-Hawks started the third quarter on a 6-2 run, opening up an eight point lead, before the Huskies finally rediscovered their range with guard Tjark Lademacher (Lüneburg, Germany) and Jasha'jaun Downey each hitting a three to cut the Memorial lead to 43-38.

Downey continued to pace the Huskies offensively, hitting another deep three followed by a fast break lay-up, but the Sea-Hawks finished the quarter strong, with a Norm Burry three-pointer, followed by a Josh Reimer buzzer-beating lay-in giving them a 53-43 lead into the fourth.

In the opening moments of the fourth quarter, Tjark Lademacher hit a tough turnaround jumper followed by a three-pointer, and Jasha'jaun Downey had a put-back lay-up to cut the Sea-Hawks lead to 55-50. But Memorial guard Zack Weenk (Calgary, AB) hit a clutch three to push their advantage to 60-50.

Huskies guard Jayrell Diggs (East Preston, NS) hit a three to cut the lead to 60-53, but the clutch play of Zack Weenk and Norm Burry was too much to overcome, as they combined to score 10 fourth quarter points, and the Sea-Hawks held on for the 68-63 win.
