Panthers blank Huskies 4-0 in Charlottetown

CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI - The UPEI Panthers defeated the Saint Mary's Huskies 4-0 in Atlantic University Sport women's hockey action on Saturday afternoon at MacLauchlan Arena in Charlottetown, PEI.

The Panthers scored a trio of goals in the first period, from Savannah Hicks, Maren Holt and Ashley McCutcheon. Kierra St. Peter added a powerplay goal in the third to secure the 4-0 result.

Panthers goaltender Sarah Forsythe stopped 31 shots for the shutout, while Huskies first year netminder Samantha Whittle turned away 32 of 36 shots in her AUS regular season debut.

The Panthers win improves their record to 7-2-1-0 on the campaign, while the Huskies drop to 3-4-0-1. The Panthers will hit the road next weekend, visiting the UNB REDS (7-2-0-0) on Friday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. in Fredericton, while the Huskies are back in action on Sunday, Nov. 2, visiting the Moncton Aigles Bleues (5-2-1-0) at 3 p.m. in Moncton.
