Allison scores four as Huskies defeat X-Men 5-3, remain undefeated

ANTIGONISH, NS - Saint Mary's forward Ben Allison scored four goals - including the game winner with 52 seconds remaining - and added an assist, leading the Huskies to a 5-3 win over the STFX X-Men in Atlantic University Sport men's hockey action on Wednesday night at the Charles V Keating Centre in Antigonish, N.S.

The X-Men got on the board first, with Matt Cato lifting one high from in close off a behind the net pass from captain Logan Chisholm 10 minutes into the game.

The Huskies replied 30 seconds later, with Allison capitalizing on a breakaway pass from Ethan Ritchie.

Saint Mary's pulled ahead with two minutes to go before intermission, as Allison fired home his second of the night on the powerplay.

Reid Valade made it 3-1 for the Huskies early in the second period, going bar-down with a wrister. Cato rang one off the crossbar halfway through the period, but STFX went to the second intermission still 2 goals down.

STFX freshman defenseman Drew Maddigan made it 3-2 halfway through the third, firing a wrister to the top corner from the top of the faceoff circle while on the powerplay.

X-Men defender Mark Woolley tied it up two minutes later, with a shot from the faceoff circle.

But the last goal went to the Huskies, with Allison picking up the hat trick with under a minute to go, and a fourth with an empty netter with a second left on the clock. Allison picked up first star honors while Maddigan was named second star and Gabriel Pizza Player of the Game for STFX.
