MacLeod finishes second at Dalhousie Invitational
HALIFAX, NS - The Saint Mary's Huskies Cross Country teams continued their AUS season at the 2025 Dalhousie Invitational on September 20 at Point Pleasant Park, a hilly 8km course overlooking the Halifax waterfront.
Women's Race:
First-year athlete, Frances MacLeod, highlighted the day for the Huskies, earning the individual 2nd place in the women's 8K in 30:48, just five seconds behind the winner from Memorial. Teammates Mackenzie Hayduk (33:22, 29th) and Ashley Brady (34:52, 42nd) also gained valuable experience and confidence against a deep field. Memorial University captured the women's team title, with Dalhousie second and UPEI third.
Men's Race:
On the men's side, the Huskies placed sixth as a team with 124 points, led by a tight pack of five finishers inside 29 minutes. Cian Kelly was first across the line for SMU in 28:21 (26th overall), closely followed by Connor MacGillivary (28:27, 28th), Elijah Ford (28:36, 30th), Zack Kennedy (28:49, 31st) and Brady Kyle (28:50, 32nd). Rookie Greysen Tremble (29:29, 39th) and veterans Oliver Hubka (29:38, 40th) and Cole Miller (29:47, 42nd) added depth. Dalhousie took the men's team crown with StFX second and UPEI third.
Co-Head Coach, Ian MacDonald, praised the squads' efforts:
"Frances ran with the best in the conference, and our men showed great pack running. This meet gives us a strong platform as we build toward the AUS Championships."
The Huskies return to action on October 4th at Université de Moncton.
