Burke, Kyle pace Huskies at Moncton Invitational Meet

MONCTON, NB - The last regular season race for Huskies cross country was held in Moncton on Saturday hosted by the Universite de Moncton, which saw a maintenance of the upward trend noticed two weeks ago.

On the women's side veteran Bhreagh Burke once again was the first finisher for the Huskies in a time of 34:41. Following behind Burke, was captain Jacqueline Moore in a time of 35:58, and making her debut in maroon and white was Mackenzie Hayduk in a time of 36:43. The winner of the women's race was St. FX X-Woman Mairin Canning in a time of 29:59. The St. FX X-Women placed first in the team standings with a score of 22 points.

For the men, first-year athlete Brady Kyle crossed the finish line first for the Huskies in a new personal best time of 28:11. Kyle was followed by captain Matt Mundy in a time of 29:12 and Zack Kennedy in a time of 29:22. The men's race was won by Jacob Benoit of the Dalhousie Tigers in a time of 24:50. The St. FX X-Men won the men's team title with a score of 25 points.

The Huskies are back in action at the AUS Cross Country Championships on October 26th, hosted by the Memorial Seahawks in St. John's, Newfoundland.
