Huskies Track & Field announce commitment of new recruits to 2026-27 lineup
Saint Mary's Cross Country and Track & Field coaches Jonathan Peverill and Ian MacDonald are pleased to announce the commitment of five new recruits to the Huskies line-up for the 2026-27 season.
Eleni Arvanitis
Events: Sprints / Middle Distance
Calgary, Alberta
West Island College / Calgary International Track Club
Eleni Arvanitis, a 5'6" sprinter from Calgary, Alberta, joins the Huskies out of West Island College and Calgary International Track Club.
Eleni has won multiple provincial relay medals, including a gold medal in the 4x800 and silver medal in the 4x200 at the 2026 Alberta Indoor Games, as well as a gold medal in the 4x400 at the BC Indoor Championships.
Arvanitis comes into Saint Mary's with personal best times of 46.32 in the 300m and 1:45.93 in the 600m.
"I can't wait to represent the Huskies and I'm looking forward to continuing my track career and furthering my education at Saint Mary's," says Eleni. "This has been something I've been working towards for a long time, and I'm so grateful for the opportunity! Go Huskies!"
Arvanitis will be studying a Bachelor of Commerce at Saint Mary's.
Molly Evers

St. Margaret's, Bay, N.S.
Bay View High School / Athletics East Track & Field Club
Molly Evers, a 5'6" distance runner from St. Margaret's Bay, N.S., joins the Huskies out of Bay View High and Athletics East Track & Field Club. Molly finished in sixth place at the 2025 SSNS Cross Country Provincial Championship, and has helped lead Bay View High to gold and silver medals.
Evers comes into Saint Mary's with personal best times of 2.18.75 in the 800m, 4:56 in the 1500m, 10:35 in the 3000m, and 19:06 in the 5km.
"I can't wait to train with such a strong team, and compete in Husky colours!" says Molly.
"We are excited that Molly has decided to continue her academics and athletics at Saint Mary's," say Huskies coaches Jonathan Peverill and Ian MacDonald. "We have had the opportunity of coaching her at the club level for the past few years and she has shown great growth and tenacity over the last year. We will look for her to be a key impact runner for the Huskies in the fall for cross country, and on the track."
Donovan Jay

Upper Tantallon, N.S.
Bay View High School / Truro Lions Track & Field Club
Donovan Jay, a 6'6" thrower from Upper Tantallon, N.S., joins the Huskies out of Bay View High and Truro Lions Track & Field Club. Jay threw a personal best 11.17m in the 6kg shotput at the 2025 SSNS Track & Field Provincial Championship, finishing sixth overall as a Grade 11.
A multi-sport athlete, Jay also competes in hockey, basketball, volleyball and is a black belt in Tae-Kwon-Do.
"I'm very excited to be joining the Saint Mary's University Track & Field team, and look forward to becoming a contributing member of the Huskies community!" says Donovan. "I can't wait to compete for SMU and to continue to grow as an athlete."
"Donovan comes into Saint Mary's with, what we believe is, a huge upside," say Huskies coaches Jonathan Peverill and Ian MacDonald. "While standing 6'6", he has shown great versatility, from high jump, to throws, and we are excited that he has decided to continue his journey at SMU. We are looking forward to seeing what Donovan can achieve while wearing the maroon and white."
Ashlyn Rooks

Lower Sackville, N.S.
Sackville High School / Athletics East Track & Field Club
Ashlyn Rooks, a 5'6" distance runner from Lower Sackville, N.S., joins the Huskies out of Sackville High and Athletics East Track & Field Club. Rooks was named Sackville High Cross Country MVP each of the past three seasons, and finished 17th overall at the 2025 SSNS Cross Country Provincial Championship. Ashlyn also won the 2024 Athletics East Scott Turnbull Award for Perseverance and Overcoming Adversity.
Rooks comes into Saint Mary's with personal best times of 2:30 in the 800m, 5:15 in the 1500m and 11:39 in the 3000m.
"I am super excited to join a team with such an amazing atmosphere and team spirit, and see how far I can go in academics and athletics as a Husky!" says Ashlyn.
"We look forward to welcoming Ashlyn into the Huskies family," say Huskies coaches Jonathan Peverill and Ian MacDonald." Ashlyn has shown great potential at the club level, as we have also had the opportunity to coach her at Athletics East, and we believe that Ashlyn will play a key role for the maroon and white as she develops even further."
Glendon Snow

Dartmouth, N.S.
Dartmouth High School / Pace Athletics
Glendon Snow, a 5'10" sprinter from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, joins the Huskies out of Dartmouth High School and Pace Athletics.
Snow won multiple medals at the 2026 SSNS Provincial Track & Field Championship, including silver medals in the 100m and 4x100m relay, and a bronze in the 200m.
Snow comes into Saint Mary's with personal best times of 7.1 in the 60m, 10.9 in the 100m, 21.9 in the 200m, and 51.8 in the 400m.
"I am thrilled to announce my commitment to Saint Mary's, and I can't wait to start this new academic and athletic chapter of my life," says Glendon. "I am incredibly grateful to my family, coaches and teammates, who have supported me every step of the way."
Snow will be studying a Bachelor of Engineering at Saint Mary's.
