Huskies Track & Field opens season at Athletics NS Last Chance Meet
In their first competition of the track and field season, the Huskies had a positive showing on Saturday at the Athletics Nova Scotia Last Chance Meet hosted at the Canada Games Centre in Halifax.
The Huskies started the day off strong in the jumps as Dante Isadore won the long jump with a jump of 6.79m, and Raeden Black finished third in the women's section with a jump of 4.94m. In the high jump and in her debut in the maroon and white, first-year athlete Kayla Schaus jumped a personal best of 1.50m tying the current school record.
Moving to the track the Huskies put forward an array of personal bests. Starting with Lori Marsman in the 60m (8.28), Dante Isadore in the 60m (7.26), Keegan Hall in the 300m (37.93), Oliver Gavel in the 300m (36.80), Ashley Brady in the 1500m (5:14), Zack Kennedy winning the 1000m in 2:41, Eli Ford in the 1000m (2:42), and Matthew Mundy in the 3000m (9:38). Many other Huskies had season opening results tying or coming close to personal bests which shows signs of a positive future ahead for this season.
The Athletics Nova Scotia Last Chance Meet is the Huskies only competition before the winter break. The Huskies are back in action on January 11th, at the Moncton Open hosted at Universite de Moncton.
