"It's my fourth year doing it, and I look forward to it every year, said Taylor Lougheed of the Huskies volleyball team who led all individual fundraisers, raising $1,815. "I think it's a mix of seeing the joy on the Special Olympic athletes faces, and also getting the opportunity to compete against our fellow Huskies from different sports teams, a little bit of competition is very fun."

"This is just a great opportunity for us to not only connect with our fellow athletes, but to support a great cause that Motionball is fundraising for Special Olympics," adds Violet Coffin, a thrower with Huskies Track & Field, who raised $1,535. "It's a great opportunity to get involved, not just to feel good about yourself, but helping other people succeed and excel and have a great time!"

"I love people like Violet who support us Special Olympics athletes, because we make a difference in the world," adds Special Olympian Justin.

Across Canada, 28 different universities are holding MotionballU events, with Saint Mary's among the top fundraising schools, raising a new school record of $28,489 for Special Olympics Canada.

"The connection we build with all the athletes, they come back every year and you get to know them over the years," adds Eli Ford of Huskies Track & Field. "I think SMU is just a very involved community, where you see all the athletes walking around campus, and being involved with their community."
