Alaina McMillan nets 17 points, despite loss to Capers

 Sydney, NS – The CAPERS dynamic duo of Hannah Brown (North Sydney, NS) and Monique Calliste (Toronto, ON) led the team to an important 4-point game victory.

The CAPERS got out to a fast start and rode it all the way to a 79-57 defeat of the Saint Mary's Huskies. Brown had 25 pts and 16 rebounds, while Calliste had 23 points and 8 rebounds to lead the way. Toni Bianchini (Groves Point, NS) played an all-round solid game with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 2 for 4 from beyond the arc. The CAPERS have clinched a playoff berth and are battling with UPEI and Acadia for a 1st-round bye.

The Huskies had three players hit double digits in the loss. Alaina McMillan had 17, Kendra MacKinnon had 10 and Estelle Eduardo also put up 10 for the Halifax school. The CAPERS outscored the Huskies 34-13 in the 1st quarter in an impressive offensive outburst. The Huskies battled back in the second and cut the lead by 5 heading into the half. The CAPERS were able to hold their lead and get some young players some valuable playing time down the stretch.  


Turning point – The CAPERS got off to a quick 20-4 start in the 1st quarter. The CAPERS never allowed the Huskies to get back into the game and held a comfortable lead throughout the game.

  • Brown led all scorers with 25 points
  • Brown also led all players with 16 rebounds
  • Mackenzee Ryan (Glace Bay, NS) of CBU had a game-high 6 assists
  • CBU's Audrey Rankin (Prince George's County, MD), Bianchini and SMU's MacKinnon each had a pair of 3-pt buckets.
