Peverill wins 1500m at McGill meet

Andrew Peverill was the only student-athlete representing Saint Mary's at the 25th annual McGill Team Challenge on the weekend.

The McGill Team Challenge is touted as being the largest indoor track meet in Canada.

Peverill claimed victory in the 1500m on Saturday after a close sprint finish to the line with Mohand Zine Khalif. With Peverill leading most of the race, Khalif passed him on the backstretch of the last lap.

Peverill responded coming around the final turn into the home stretch and outkicked Khalif in the last 50m of the race. Peverill's time of 3:50.80 currently ranks him top 6 in the 1500m U Sports rankings.

Andrew also raced the 1000m on Friday evening and placed 5th in a time of 2:28.20 against a strong field of athletes.

The Huskies Track & Field team are back in action this upcoming weekend in Saint John, NB.
